Have a senior soccer session coming up and suddenly every pose you’ve ever seen has left your brain?

Yep. Been there.

The good news is you don’t need dozens of complicated poses to create a gallery your senior will love. Our favorite soccer poses for senior pictures use the things already around us, like the soccer ball, net, bleachers, and field.

Here are a few simple ideas you can keep in your back pocket for your next session.

Start with the soccer ball and uniform

Before the session, remind your senior to bring their uniform, cleats, and soccer ball.

It sounds obvious, but you definitely don’t want to arrive at the soccer field and realize the soccer ball is sitting in someone’s garage. 😅

These pieces give your senior something natural to hold and make it much easier to create variety without constantly thinking up new poses.

Use the soccer net for easy senior picture poses

The soccer net gives you several poses without moving very far.

Lean against the net

Start by having your senior casually lean against the net while holding their soccer ball.

Then, make tiny changes.

Have them smile at you, give you a serious expression, or look toward the field. You can also change where they hold the ball.

One setup. Several photos. Much easier.

Sit or look through the net

Next, have your senior sit near the net or photograph them looking through it.

You haven’t completely reinvented the pose. However, the gallery already feels more varied.

Head to the bleachers for more variety

The bleachers are one of our favorite spots for senior soccer pictures because they give you a completely different look without leaving the field.

Have your senior sit while holding the soccer ball and look toward the field.

Then, move down a few rows and photograph upward toward them. You can even place the soccer ball closer to your camera to create more depth.

Show off the soccer field

Don’t forget to step back and show where your senior has spent so much of their time.

Use the field, stadium, fence, or bleachers in the background.

These wider soccer senior photo ideas help tell more of their story instead of making every image a close-up portrait.

Add movement to your soccer poses

Once you’ve captured your traditional portraits, let your senior actually play.

Ask them to dribble the ball, juggle it, kick it, or show you one of their favorite tricks.

Just remember to increase your shutter speed when they’re moving. Nobody ordered an accidentally blurry soccer ball.

Try a detail shot

Set the soccer ball and cleats in the foreground and have your senior stand or sit farther behind them.

You can focus on the gear and let your senior fall slightly out of focus. Then, switch your focus and create another image.

Again, you’re getting two completely different photos from essentially the same setup.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the soccer uniform

One of our favorite ways to add variety is to have seniors bring a nicer outfit or even a suit.

Photographing them dressed up on the soccer field creates a completely different feel while still highlighting something that’s been a huge part of their high school experience.

And if they’re a multi-sport athlete, bring those other sports into a few images too.

Keep soccer poses for senior pictures simple

You don’t need a Pinterest board with 100 poses open on your phone during the session.

Start with the soccer ball. Use the net. Move to the bleachers. Show the field. Then let your senior move and actually play.

Simple.

And much easier to remember when you’re standing there with an actual client staring at you. 😉
